What you will need:

  • 450g half shell mussels
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons of freshly crushed garlic
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon of chilli flakes
  • 1 cup of dry white wine
  • 1 cup fresh whipping cream
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon, juiced and zested
  • ½ cup chopped parsley

To start preparing this dish, you can melt the butter in a large skillet with a lid, sauté the onion, garlic and chilli flakes until soft. Add the wine and simmer until reduced by two-thirds, then add the cream and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add the mussels and cover the skillet with the lid. Simmer over low heat and steam the mussels until cooked for 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and season the dish to taste by adding salt and pepper, lemon juice, finely grated zest and parsley.
